How often should I be using the board butter?
Use the board butter as needed. If you board is looking dull or dry, its probably time to give it a good coat. I recommend using it once a month to keep your board looking grea.

Caring for Your End Grain Cutting Board
Your board is built to last a lifetime — here’s how to keep it looking and performing its best:
Cleaning
- Wipe down with a damp cloth or rinse with warm water after each use.
- Use a small amount of mild dish soap if needed, then rinse and dry immediately.
- Never submerge your board in water for a prolonged period of time or put it in the dishwasher — excess moisture can cause warping or cracking.
Drying
- Always dry your board thoroughly after cleaning.
- Stand it on its edge or use a drying rack to allow airflow around all sides.
Oiling
- Reapply board oil regularly to keep the wood nourished and protected — about once a month or whenever the wood looks dry.
- Use food-grade mineral oil or our Board Butter blend for deeper conditioning.
- Apply generously, let it soak in for several hours (or overnight), then wipe off any excess.
Storage
- Store in a dry area away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
- Avoid resting it flat on wet countertops or near heat sources (like stovetops or dishwashers).
Extra Tips
- Avoid cutting on the board with serrated knives or cleavers, which can damage the grain.
- Sprinkle kosher salt and use half a lemon to naturally deodorize and freshen the surface if needed.
- Wood naturally has movement in it and you board may warp. If this happens, run it under some warm water for a couple minutes and then leave it on a flat surface to dry with some wight on top of it.
- End Grain boards can be re-finished to bring them back to life after you use and abuse them. A bit of sand paper and some elbow grease is all you will need. Im happy to re-finish your board for you if you prefer. Reach out for more info on this process.
